Incredible picture in Belfast

April 3rd, 2009 - Comments: 1

I served my LDS mission in Ireland, and spent almost an entire year in Northern Ireland. It was a crazy place to be. I was in one of the housing projects called Rathcool in the summer of 1996 when the cease fire officially ended. It was wild to watch the British military’s armored trucks go up the Shore Road which ran in front of our flat — see the lights of some bombs go off up the way — and then see the same armored trucks come back down the road with pieces of it hanging off. I was 19, in a foreign land, and in the middle of war zone. It was nuts!

Anyway, I saw this photo on flickr and decided to throw it up on the blog. Cool picture of a building I have seen in Belfast.

    Hey Spence

Northern Ireland seems like such a long time ago. Glad to see things are going well for you. We’ve moved out to Utah, I’m workin in a different ‘war zone’ right now, but I’ll get in touch when I get back to the states.
